A Quick Catch-up

We have been so busy for the past few months and a ton of things have happened, a bunch of which I will leave out.

We had a wonderful Christmas at home in Utah, although we missed Adam's family terribly. We were so thankful for Skype and the chance we had to talk to his family so much during the holidays. If you haven't tried Skype yet, it is wonderful!

Our New Years was as equally fun! We actually made it to 1 p.m., something that doesn't happen every year. I was pretty proud.

As for this year, we have a bunch of things in the hopper. I am getting my hip replaced in March (something I have been anticipating for 12 years), we are planning a trip with Adam's family and then another one with his best friend Shawn. All of which will be happening while both Adam and I try to live normal lives. Wish us luck!

Thanksgiving

We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. It was nice to get away from all of our stresses we have been dealing with lately and travel to Alabama to get pampered by Adam's Mom and Dad. They took such great care of us. It is such a blessing that Adam has the parents that he has since both of my parents are gone. However, sometimes it makes me miss them even more.

We were able to go for five days and got to do lots of fun things, like the Iron Bowl! If you aren't familiar with the biggest college football rivalry game in the U.S., I will tell you that it is crazy. The Auburn vs. Alabama game is quite the all-day event. Here is a picture of us at the game. Sadly, the Auburn Tigers loss - we'll get them next year!

We had so much fun at the game. Adam lost his voice and my arm hurt from shaking the pom pom so much. And to top it all off we were able to enjoy some boiled peanuts at the game.

Camping with My Family

We had so much fun camping over the weekend with my family. It was something we had done a million times a kids, but as adults we had never been together in one big group. However, I was sad that my brother Peter and his family weren't able to come.

We drove 4.5 hours to Baker, Nevada, where there was great fishing and Lehman Caves to tour. Below are more pictures of the trip.

Happenings...

We have had a really big month! Adam officially finished his bachelors degree at the U (I am so excited to have him home at night, this summer he was gone from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday - I felt like we never saw each other) and we celebrated our five month anniversary.

To celebrate we spent the evening at our favorite restaurant The Bambara. We had such a great time catching up and talking about the future.

We also made a huge improvement on our kitchen. We took down the outdated kitchen lighting and put up something a little more modern. I was weary of the change at first, but Adam pulled through just like he said he would and we now have a beautiful kitchen ceiling.

California Road Trip 2011

Over the 4th of July weekend, Adam and I took a short road trip to California. Can you believe Adam had never been to the beautiful state? I couldn't either, so I got the trip in motion.

The weather was so beautiful the entire time. Some of the highlights included, driving 11 hours each way (I love spending time in the car with Adam, we always have the best conversations), a five-course dinner on the famous Napa Valley Wine Train, and dinner by the pier at Iron Chef Morimoto's restaurant (I ate the best sushi I have ever had here).Here are some pictures from our trip:

Tiffany's Wedding

Adam Graduated

Better late than never to make a blog post. On May 6th, 2011 Adam graduated with his undergraduate degree in English. I am so proud of him!

Not only did he graduate, but his mom came out to visit and we had the best time.

Mom

It was two months ago yesterday that I last saw your beautiful face. I cannot believe how long it has been since we last talked, but then at the same moment I can still remember your voice and somehow it doesn't seem that long ago that we were together.

I find that as time passes it gets easier to cope and not everything makes me want to cry. However, I find myself retracing every conversation, hug, touch and memory we shared so that I don't forget. I find it funny and sad that I now have to go on and live my life. I can't believe I might live until I am 80 years old without you in my life. There have been so many times since your passing that I wanted to share things with you and get your advice. I miss you.

I had a moment yesterday when I was getting ready for bed and Adam mentioned the word "mom." I remember repeating the word as it dawned on me that I will never again get to say that word to you and call out your name. The word, much like "Dad" now stirs so many emotions. It made me very sad.

I am jealous of everyone who gets to have their parents in their life. I think of having children and that you will not be able to give me the advice you once could. I am mad at myself for not asking you more questions.

I realize that all the pictures that I have of you and me are even more special than I ever thought, but I also realize they are the only pictures I will ever have of you. So for my sanity I posted a few of my favorites. I have found that over the past few months starring at your picture helps me to feel better.

Honeymoon

Two days after Adam and I were married we headed off to our Ireland honeymoon. We booked the vacation through some close friends travel company and man did we get a smoking' deal!

Our Ireland honeymoon consisted of a six night stay at the Ritz Carlton Powerscourt, tons of in-room eating, garden tours, dinner at the Gordon Ramsey Restaurant, horseback riding, driving on the left hand side of the road, beautiful scenery, and much much more!

We had a great time, but mostly it was just so nice to spend time with each other. Check out some of the pictures from our honeymoon.

Wedding

We have been officially married for 26 days now, wow that is almost a month! It is crazy how time flies by and how many things can happen in just one month. I still can't believe we are finally married. Most of all I still can't believe I am married to my best friend.

We had the most wonderful, beautiful wedding and were so impressed with all the love and support we received from our families and close friends.

We were married in the early afternoon on Saturday, March 19th at the Red Butte Gardens Orangerie. It was a rainy-snowy day, but we didn't care, we thought it was perfect.

I was so lucky that my mom agreed to walk me down the isle. It was a very special moment that I will never forget - she did a great job, I know she was worried that she wouldn't. It was flawless and she looked so beautiful that day.

Adam looked so handsome and grinned throughout the entire ceremony. It was an emotional day, but when I saw this face at the end of the isle, I couldn't help but smile!

We had such a great time incorporating both of our families into the bridal party. I mean no one in either of our families was left out. It made for a huge bridal party, but it was so fun having everyone involved.

Bridal Shower

I had my bridal shower this weekend, February 26th, and man did I have a great time. All I can say is that Adam and I got spoiled thanks to all of our friends and family.

We received tons of kitchen stuff, bath stuff, bedding, oh and I also got several pieces on lingerie. Meow!

March 19, 2011 - It's Official

You heard that right, we set a date! We are getting married Saturday, March 19, 2011 and man we couldn't be more excited. We are still figuring out the exact time, but it will be an early afternoon wedding at Red Butte Gardens.

For all my friends who are already married (which is most of you), man I had no idea how many things actually went into a wedding. Thankfully I have Adam to help me with everything. I really am super lucky that he wants to be so involved, I mean that is how it should be!

So far we have had a really fun and special time planning our wedding. We just can't wait for the day to get here.

Engaged!

Now I realize that I should have made a post about this a few weeks ago, but we have been SOOOO busy. We got engaged on Friday, December 17th, 2010!!!!

Now, I am not very good at telling stories, but I will try and tell you our engagement story without butchering it.

I could not have asked for a more romantic proposal. It was a Friday night and I had worked all day. It just so happened that Adam had gotten off work early, but I was bummed I had a hair appointment and that I couldn't just head home and be with him. After work I called him to let him know I was headed to the appointment and he told me that when I got home he had a surprise for me. Thinking it was just something small and thoughtful, like he always does, I put it in the back of my mind.

After I was done with my hair appointment I called him again and he reminded me of the surprise that he and "our kids" had put together for me. At this point I started to wonder what it could be. We had talked about getting married and possibly soon, but I wondered when he had time and money to get a ring?

I headed home not knowing what the surprise was, but hoped it was a ring. I pulled into the garage around 8:30 pm and walked into a dimly lit house with lit candles all over. Nervously, I started to put my purse down on the counter as Adam walked around the corner in a tuxedo. At that moment tears started rolling down my cheeks; I knew I was finally getting engaged.

Adam came over to me and politely asked me what was wrong and I said "nothing."He led me over to the bouquet of red roses he bought me. I held them and smelled them all while looking all over the roses for the ring. He then let the dogs come into the room. They were all wearing huge red bows like they were presents. It was so cute!

He then asked me to bring my roses to the couch because he had written me a song on the guitar and wanted to sing it to me. I sat there while he sang "I Will" and I cried, so of course he was chocked up while he sang. The song mentioned all the things he loved about me and then at the end of the song it stated "I am going to ask you a question and I hope you will say I will." That is when he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I said yes, of course!

We are already in planning mode and have appointments this week to book a venue. We are shooting to get married March 19th, 2011. We are so excited and can't wait to be married!!!

Christmas is in the Air

Like most of the people I know, I love Christmas. For some reason this year, I had the urge to start shopping and decorating even earlier than normal. Check out our tree we got the day before Thanksgiving. It is probably the most perfect live Christmas tree I have ever had.

I also started listening to the Christmas music on FM 100.3 about two weeks before Thanksgiving.

I am excited for Christmas this year, we are going to Alabama. I have never spent Christmas with Adam's family, so I am excited to start some new traditions. Normally I spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my Mom, so as you can imagine leaving her this year is going to be hard on me. I have started to realize how much of a Mommas girl I am.

Traveling to Alabama also makes it trickier to bring Christmas presents on the plane. We have decided to only bring one present for each other (and open our other presents before we leave) and maybe do the shopping for his family once we get there.

Alabama will be so different than what I am used to, I mean it will probably be in the 50's and there will definitely not be any snow. So I guess hoping for a white Christmas is out of the question. But I am so excited. Adam's Mom was so sad that we didn't come home last year. We are crossing our fingers that we can encourage his family to come out next year. That way we can celebrate with both of our families.

We Found the House

We found the house! We are closing tomorrow and should be moving in this Saturday.

Can I please just say that buying a house isn't that easy of a process. I mean the information they need from you...super stressful, but it should all be over tomorrow.

We are buying a town house, well it's more of a twin home, but it is perfect. It is a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath home and guess what, we will have a garage... finally!

House Hunting

Why yes, you ask, we are trying to buy a house.

It all started about two months ago, well let me rephrase that, it all started a little over five months ago when I got my new job and started driving a new way to work.

For months I drove past the construction of new town homes on 1300 East and wondered, what they looked like inside. Well, about two months ago, I got my wish and noticed that they were having an open house. So as we typically do on Tuesday nights (jk), we went to the open house, only to fall instantly in-love with this town home. Of course it was way out of our price range, but we didn't care, we were in love.

We were given a reality check that we couldn't afford the town home when we went in to get approved for a loan, but we didn't care, we had already decided that now was the right time for us to buy.

So that's how it all started. We got approved and have looked at about 20 houses and have made one offer (it didn't go through though). We are still on the prowl. Wish us luck!

I Found the Dress

I want to thank everyone for their wonderful suggestions on where to find a cheap bridesmaid dress, because I found one.

What a relief, I have been looking online and in stores for more than two months now. I actually found my dress at David's Bridal and it was a steal compared to most of the dresses they sell there.

It is a floor length, black silk dress. Here is a picture of it, but I have to be honest, this picture doesn't do it justice.

Now I have to decide how I want to do my hair.

Alabama

Adam finally took me to Alabama! We went over Memorial Day and had a great time.

Here are some pictures.

Did you know that Montgomery, Alabama was the central location for the Civil Rights Movement? I didn't either, until Adam showed me around town. Here we are in front of Martin Luther King Jr.'s church that he was a preacher at.

I am a Bridesmaid

My friend Nikki asked me to be a bridesmaid and of course I said yes. I now need to find a dress. Does anyone know of any places that have simple bridesmaid dresses for under $100. I would prefer not to use David's Bridal or any of those bridal shops (too pricey).

Prison Break

Over the past month we have been streaming movies from NetFlix through the XBox. It is awesome!

We started watching the television series "Prison Break." The show reminds me of the movie "The Shawshank Redemption," which I love. We haven't been able to stop watching. We have watched at least one episode a night for the past two weeks or so. In fact, we just finished season two last night.

Here is a brief synopsis of the show, if you are interested:

Prison Break is an American drama television series created by Paul Scheuring, which premiered on the Fox Broadcasting Company on August 29, 2005. The Words You Always Misspell

Do any of you have those words that you can never remember how to spell? Well, I do.

After reading through some of my last posts, I realized that once again I spelled the word "definitely" wrong (I had spelled it "definately"). I am not sure why I have such a hard time with this word.

There are others too...forever I couldn't remember how to spell the word "awesome;" is it spelled with or without an "e?" I couldn't remember until a teacher reminded me about the word "awe," and now I always remember.

What about you; do you have words you frequently misspell? If so, what are they?

Date Night

New Job

I got a new job!!! I started four weeks ago.

I am now working for Idyllwild Advertising as a Project Manager, doing copywriting for our various clients' websites. I really like the change from public relations and I am loving my new co-workers.

New Couch

I should have mentioned this a while ago, but we got a new couch. We searched and searched and when R.C. Willey had the BEST deal ever, we had to splurge.

Let me tell you, we were so happy to get rid of our love seat and matching chair. I am not sure if any of you have ever tried, but being comfortable on a love seat is nearly impossible, and forget taking any naps on it...ever.

Another Travel Post

I feel bad that all I ever seem to write about is the vacations that Adam and I take together, but I don't feel that bad and can't think of anything else to write about, so here is another one.

We took another road trip to Washington State this March and we had such a blast! We stayed in Bothell, Discovery Bay, Seattle, and on the way home we stayed in Boise, which was actually the nicest hotel we stayed at.

You all know that I take pride in the work that I do, so when we discovered we were staying a block away from The Seattle Times, a media outlet that I have pitch sooooo many times, we had to stop and take a few photos.

We also had a chance to go to the Seattle zoo (Woodland Park Zoo) and check out all of the cool animals. Check out the video we took of the baby gorilla...so cute.

About half way into the trip we decided to go to Victoria, Canada and get another stamp on our passports. To be honest it was a tourist trap, very pretty, but everything was overpriced. So we decided to spend the four hours that we had and go to the museum.

Our favorite part of the trip was the whale watching tour we went on. We were able to see two Gray whales, a mom and her calf. What a cool experience!

Surgery

What an alarming word, "surgery!" But don't get too freaked out, as many of you know, Adam had surgery last week (nothing serious). He had a cyst removed and is doing really well now, only with a few minor set backs. He had a rough first few days, but with a week behind him, he has been able to be more mobile.

He was originally scheduled to have surgery two weeks ago, but when he came down with a severe cold and had a fever of 102, the doctor made him reschedule, after we had been at the hospital for a few hours.

Luckily his work has been very lenient with him, allowing him to have as much time as he needs to get better. He has tried two times this week to go back to work, but keeps getting nausiated. Poor baby!

I on the other hand have been having a great time playing nurse. It is always very rewarding to take care of someone you love, especially at their weakest moments.

Wii

We got a Wii for Christmas and even though we are behind the curve in gaming, we were finally able to see what all the fuss was about. We love the Wii!

At first we only had the games that come with the console, like tennis (Adam went pro on his second day of playing!) and bowling, but this past weekend we upgraded to Lego Indiana Jones and Mario Bros. If you haven't played them, then you should. We played both games for hours!

We had such a good time on New Years Eve! We stayed at the Ramada, so we could be in walking distance to the EVE Fest downtown.

There, we were able to go ice skating, watching the Rail Jam, and see a brake dance battle.

And of course, when the clock stroke twelve, we were together...the best part of the evening!

Christmas

This was the first year that Adam and I spent Christmas day together. We had so much fun shopping for one another and even more fun opening our presents. We sure do know how to spoil each other!

It was just so nice to be able to celebrate the holiday in the same state, but we were sad that we were not able to see his family. Actually, Adam got his Mom a web cam, but sadly, could never get it to work, but it's the thought that counts right???

We were however, able to spend a wonderful Christmas Eve and morning with my Mom.

I was so excited for Christmas and presents that I woke up at 4:30 a.m. Christmas morning and couldn't go back to sleep. So, when Adam noticed that I was awake at 6:00 a.m. he woke up and we got to open presents.

I totally have bed head in one of the photos, but I don't care, it was Christmas. The shot also shows off my new diamond necklace and earrings, which I got two pairs of. And you can see the new cardigan I got Adam that he is wearing.

We got more than enough presents and had such a wonderful holiday. I hope you all did too.

VW Passat

Yes it's true, we got a new/used car, well Adam did.

On Monday, he purchased a 2006 VW Passat with all the extras. And I have to admit that he deserves it after dealing with unreliable cars for the past year and a half or so.

We have spent the last few nights driving the new car around, and have really enjoyed ourselves.

We love the car so much that, we have already decided that our Spring trip to Washington State will be another road trip.

Swine Flu

I am sure many of you feel the same way, but it seems to us that the Swine Flu keeps getting closer and closer to us. For example, three months ago, no one I knew had the Swine Flu. Two months ago I found out that a distant high school friend had it. One month ago I found out that of my clients had it. Two weeks ago Adam's co-worker's daughter had it, and this week on of my co-workers has it!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure that if either of us came down with the dreadful virus we would be okay, I just don't relish either of us being sick as a dog for a week.

We are not in the recommended age group or lifestyle to get the vaccine, so I am wondering if we should just pony up and get the dang thing. Thoughts?

Please Welcome Brinkley to the Family

That's right, we got another dog. Adam and I have come to realize that we just can't help ourselves, so we gave in and added a new member to the family, Brinkley, a purebred four month-old cocker spaniel.

Although Sparky and Lily love him, he can be annoying at times, but we love him just the same. One thing is certain, he is happy to be out of that kennel and playing with his family.

Babysitting

It has become a tradition that Adam and I watch my niece and nephew while my brother, sister-in-law and other nephew attend all University of Utah home football games. Saturday was the first time that we had the two over to our house to play and to be honest it was one of our favorite times watching them.

We started off the night by introducing our new guinea pig (Chaucer, or Chaucey as we call him) to Katelyn and Braxton, followed by painting pumpkins. After which we headed to McDonalds for some dinner and some much needed energy burning laps around the playground (about 30 to be exact), and then home to hunt for firewood to make a bonfire and delicious s'mores.

Around nine everything started to wind down as we all sat on the coach and watched Mickey's Playhouse. We had such a great time and are really looking forward to the next home game. Adam and I are one step closer to being the coolest aunt and ( maybe soon-to-be uncle).

Washington

So this past holiday weekend, Adam and I took a trip to the Pacific Northwest, specifically Forks, Washington...the home of Twilight. Neither of us had ever been, so as you can imagine we definately had to do our research.

In the end we decided to rent a car and do a road trip. We were able to go to the beach, hike in the Hoh Rain Forest and visit all of the local Twilight sites.

We are dying to go back and possibly take a fairey to Victoria, Canada.

To be honest, it was just nice to get away, just the two of us and put our work and daily lives behind us for a little TLC. We had a great time together...very romantic!

The Land of Twilight

Let me start by first saying we will not be going to Four Corners (thank you for the warning Bequi), although I am not quite sure why it is such a bad place to go. **Bequi, you must fill us in later.

But, heeding the warning we have chosen to go to none other than the land of Twilight, yes that is correct, we are heading to Forks, Washington.

You might be wondering why, we know we are, but it sounds exciting and it is unlike any place we have ever been, so we are very excited. Among the things we plan to do are: whale watching, hiking, maybe do some fishing, tour the Twilight sights, and visit Makah Indian ruins.

Labor Day

Dog Momma

Now I may just be a proud dog momma, but aren't these two so cute!

About once a week (this happens more when it is cooler outside), we treat the dogs to a joy ride in the car. As you can see they absolutely love to stick their heads out the window and we let them because it makes us smile. Thought I would share.

24th of July

Adam is a grill master! I mean who else can grill chicken, pork chops, corn, and potatos on countless occasions and have Martha Stewart herself impressed? Only Adam...the Grillmaster.

No really, we had a great time entertaining my family on the 24th of July. We had it all planned out, a kiddie pool, fireworks, darts, and great food, all to keep everyone entertained and dying to come back for more. Check out some of the pictures.

To say that Adam and I were exctied to go to Vegas would be an understatement...we were dying to go.

We were able to experience the 105 degree weather, the fabulous shows, and the intense night life (we stayed up until 5:30 a.m. one night).

Once again, Adam and I are heading to Vegas. We just love the place and have a great time when we go. This time we going with Adam's best friend and his wife from North Carolina (they have never been).

We leave on Wednesday, June 3rd! Vegas here we come!

Wisdom Tooth, not Teeth

I feel weird everytime I tell someone that I had my wisdom tooth removed this past Friday. For some reason I normally refer to my teeth collectively and rarely have the chance to use the singular version, but on this rare occassion "tooth" is correct.

So to reiterate the point of this post, I had my last wisdom tooth removed on Friday and I must say good riddance. It had been nagging me for the past four years, so to have it gone is a huge relief.

I have to thank Adam for putting up with my lazy, don't feel so good attitude all weekend...what a sweetheart!

Half-Way to 50!

That's right I turned 25 on June 12th and for the most part I have been handling it very well. I must admit, Adam being 26 and all, helped me to adjust. If he can do it, I can right?...right?

Actually with age aside, I had a fabulous birthday and as always was spoiled by Adam. He got me the Blackberry I had been drooling over for months and months. The internet on my phone just makes me feel so connected. He also gave me The Host by Stephenie Myer, which I have dying to read.

But nothing beats the birthday balloons and banner he insisted on going to Zurchers for. Yes that's correct I turned 25, not four, but you should have seen how sweet it was when he carried my birthday balloon bouquet to the car. What a great man!

For my birthday dinner, Adam took me to a little french restaurant called The Paris. This is us after our wonderful day together.

Volunteering

My first job out of college was for a Utah non profit called the Cancer Wellness House (CWH). I worked there for two years gaining knowledge in public relations, marketing, and special event planning. Currently I work for an advertising agency doing media relations for local and national clients. After leaving CWH, Adam and I made it a point to stay in touch and to attend its annual fundraisers.

It must have paid off because three months ago I was elected to their board of directors and just recently was named the Survivors at the Summit board chair.

For those of you who don't know, Survivors at the Summit is an annual fundraiser held at Snowbird Ski Resort by CWH. The hike is put on as a way to honor those loved ones who have been touched by cancer. It is actually pretty cool, CWH sells memorial flags and lets each buyer personalize their flag with the name of someone who has been touched by cancer. On the day of the event the flags are taken up to the top of Hidden Peak and hung to soar at the peak. When hikers reach the top of the peak, they are able to search for their soaring flag and either remember that loved one who has passed or celebrate their remission.

Adam and I have attended the Survivors at the Summit event for the past three years and have been involved in coordinating, volunteering, and just simply attending the event, and we love it!Last year we decided to do the hike and not take the tram up to Hidden Peak...lets just say I was dead for the next 5 days.

This year we are in charge of coordinating all hike efforts and as a goal, we have put together a fundraising page to encourage our friends and family members to each donate a small amount ($4 each) to the Survivors at the Summit fund. The link is below if you wish to do so:

Zoo Fun

Have you ever woken up and wanted to go to the zoo, well on Saturday that is exactly what happened. I woke up and wanted to go to the zoo and as always Adam was on the same wave length and also wanted to go.

We saw almost all the animals the zoo had to offer, and I would have to say seeing the moneys and apes were our favorite part. I think it has something to do with our close ancestory ;) Funny things is, we did not get any pictures of them. However, I did get a picture with the germ.

Adam and I always enjoy when my niece Jennifer comes over to play, but the cats don't. It's so fun to watch her chase down the cats and even more fun to listen to her try and persuade Adam to help her.

Not only do we love it when Jennifer comes to play, but we especially love it when her little sister Bridgett comes over too.

Memorial Day

It is a tradition in my family to celebrate the Sunday before Memorial Day with my Mom's side of the family. Every year we travel down (or up, I am really not sure) to Grantsville, Utah and have a large family BBQ. Adam has had the luxury of attending the past two years, so officially he knows all of my immediate family now!

On Thursday, May 7th, 2009 Hannah and I lost a precious member of our family. It was determined that Eden had contracted Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a fatal viral disease which unfortunately has no known cure. Her sudden death, while heartbreaking, has taught us to appreciate the time we have with our other pets. Eden was unanimously considered a beautiful and affectionate cat by all those who knew her.

I adopted Eden on March 3rd, 2007 when she was just two years old. I have always loved cats, but until Eden I’d never had one to call my own. I remember when I met Eden I thought she was incredibly beautiful. I saw her for the first time through the adoption center window at the PETCO in Sugarhouse (Salt Lake City, UT). Her vivid eyes left a lasting impression. I gave myself some time to think about the responsibility of caring for another life, a practice I highly recommend, and after a characteristically sleepless night, the only question left unanswered was “How fast can I get back to the PETCO?” Hannah and I took Eden home and were almost immediately treated to equal displays of her happy affection and stubborn independence.

We are so grateful for the pictures and memories we have of Eden. Though the time we had with her was sadly cut short, we are happy to remember her as a loving and loyal daughter. Her presence in our lives will not soon be forgotten.

Couples Golf

Okay so I am going to admit something...I am really bad at golf.

I know many of you are in shock right now, but I had to let the cat out of the bag and reveal to you all my triple bogey average. Adam on the other hand is a great golfer and tends to average around eight over par. With that said, we both have been working really hard at improving our golf games. And with much success I scored my best game ever a few weeks ago, when I achieved a 43 over par - in the rain. (that is only seven over a double bogey round of golf...go me!) If that wasn't enough to be excited about, Adam scored four over par!!! Go hunny!

We both have a goal to play golf at least once every weekend and go to the range during the week as a way to practice for the weekend. So far we have been able to keep it up for the past two months. Keep your fingers crossed for us both to continue to lower our scores at golf, I know I am going to need it.

Family

Adam and I both agree that our families are very important to us. We are reminded of this everytime we go to family parties, when my Mom comes over, or when there is a tragedy or celebration in the family. This weekend we were reminded once again. That's right, Adam's Mom and nephew came to Salt Lake to visit. As many of you know, I had never met any of his family members, so it is an understatement to say that I was excited to have them come. We had a fun weekend just getting to know eachother. We were able to show his Mom and nephew around some of the downtown sites of Utah, we made smores, and ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory. We are having a great time having them here and I can tell just how much Adam loves his family. I keep telling Adam that he needs to take me to Alabama, who knows maybe we will go out sometime this summer.

Our European Adventure

First I need to start this post by publically thanking Adam for his amazing navigation skills. Thanks to him we had a flawless vacation (opposed to Belize, can I say quel nightmare) and we were able to see everything we wanted to see and much much more. Below I have included a rundown of our trip and what we did each day.

Friday - 9 1/2 hour direct Delta flight
Saturday - Arrived in Paris and went to see Eiffel Tour
Sunday - Louvre
Monday - Notre Dame
Tuesday - Eurostar to London and our first look at the Tower of London and Tower Bridge
Wednesday - Tower of London to see the crown jewels, the Jack the Ripper Tour (very scary!)
Thursday - Slept in (until 4 pm - we were tired from the scary night) and went to Harrods!
Friday - Big Ben and camera drama
Saturday - Eurostar back to Paris, walked around for two hours trying to find a hotel (found one)
Sunday - Versaille and boat ride down the canal (thanks to Adam and his chivalry)
Monday - Romantic dinner cruise and Paris shopping
Tuesday - 14 1/2 hour Delta flight with connection

To those of you who know Adam and I, you realize that we have been together long enough that we know each other quite well. However, that does not mean that the other person does not surprise us, this tends to happen a lot with our usage of words. I would have to say that Adam gets a great chuckle when I mix up my metaphors and although Adam is near perfect, he said one thing on this trip that truly surprised me and made me nearly wet my pants and quite frankly has become the joke of the trip. Okay so here it goes, when we left the Charles de Gaule Airport we had to head into th city on the metro. While traveling, we had the pleasure of having an accordion player on our car. We were pleased by the beatiful, yet very stereotypical french music he was playing, but were surprised when the musician approached us with his Dixie cup and so politely asked us for a donation...in french, at which Adam replied "I a no speaka the french" (there are no typos, that is how he said it). To say the least we felt like complete idiots and both made it a priority to be a little more discrete the next time someone asked us to donate to their living fund.

I am sure you are all wondering about our favorite moments in Europe and honestly it is hard to know where to start. So to replace the countless stories we could tell you I have added a bunch of pictures for you to view (some quite mushy - deal! oh and we took about 700 pictures, obviously all will not be posted), but because everyone keeps asking, I will tell you about one on my favorite things we did, the dinner cruise. On Monday night we got all dressed up and went on a dinner cruise on the River Seine. While enjoying our three course french meal we viewed all the huge sites of Paris; the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Statue of Liberty, etc. It was very romantic and relaxing and honestly a great way to end our trip. And as a result we have a very beautiful professional picture taken of the both of us...maybe even our first one.

Australia - The Movie

Yesterday after work Adam and I wanted to do something fun for the evening, rather than the same old "watch TV and eat dinner" routine. Adam had the bright idea to go to the $1 movies (which is now $1.50) and go and see Australia. Neither of us new very much about the movie, but decided it sounded interesting. The movie was set during WWII and focused on the struggles that Australia encountered during the war (which neither I nor Adam new anything about - Japanese invading Australia...what?). Well to say the least, both of us really enjoyed the movie, but could not help laughing during the last hour or so at all the "supposed" endings (and honestly we thought the movie was over about 4 times before it actually was) and the fact that our little evening out at the movies turned into more than a 3 hour event. We had a great time, but are a little tired this morning!

Europe Here We Come

Yes it's true, we are going to Europe! I have been waiting my whole life and Adam has been waiting four years (he lived in Europe for nine months). So, it is an understatement when I say we are so so excited. Don't worry, after our trip in March, I will make sure to post some pictures.

Yes its true, we added yet another member to our family and his name is Aeden. Now we normally do not condone buying dogs or cats from a pet store, but once we held him we could not put him down. At 11 weeks, Aeden is a cool tempered kitty that has our other pets baffled. We love him and could not be happier with the decision we made!

Finally after 25 years of waiting, Adam was able to go to Vegas! Yes thats right we did it all, driving down, staying at a luxury resort, getting no sleep, and seeing everything we possibly could. We were fortunate enough to see The Phantom of the Opera (amazing to say the least) and Popovich's animal show (funny and reeked of Vegas). And to top it all off, we got to spend time with a best friend of mine...the one and ONLY Hill Bill. Sadly we had so much fun one night on the shuttle, that Adam felt a little left out. Just ask us, we had a great time and cannot wait to go again.

Thankfully my oldest brother Peter and my sister-in-law Mindy love University of Utah football because the other weekend Adam and I got to watch my neice Katelyn and nephew Braxton. We had a blast watching Alladin (compliments of Katelyn and Adam...see below), eating pizza and popcorn, and drawing each other fun pictures. Camping

Yes its true this past weekend we went camping with my family, but sadly I forgot to take pictures. We camped by Heber for the entire weekend, which was a first for Adam and I because we normally only camp for one night. Honestly, it was relaxing to get away from the city and eat great camping food and not have to worry about anything else, but enjoying ourselves. All in all, great weekend!

Today Adam and I went up to Snowbird Ski Resort to participate in the annual Survivors at the Summit event for the Cancer Wellness House. We decided our participation at the event would be to hike to Hidden Peak. After 4 hours and close to 3,000 feet in altitude change, we were dead tired...so we took the ski lift down.

Dog Grooming

Last weekend I had the bright idea of starting a home dog grooming bussiness. Okay lets be real, I am only grooming my dogs and not other peoples. Adam was gracious enough to help me shop around and get all the essential equipment. Three hours into it I realized why I had taken them to the groomer in the past, man it was tiring and messy. Luckily I had Adam, who thankfully finished grooming the dogs and then made dinner.

Belize Vacation

On June 20th, Adam and I set out on a 10 day adventure in Belize. We did not travel alone, but were accompanied by Amy and Mike, the other couple we always do things with. Over the 10 day period we visited three countries: Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. We had an amazing time and got to experience some truley unique things.
